Tucker
Quilting:
Last Friday, Pam posted the final part of Tucker, a Pocket Patchwork Sew-Along by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts. It's a cute design, but since I don't have anyplace in my apartment where I could tuck a quilt like that, I've decided to redesign it into a wallhanging. So far I've finished the flying geese units and cut some more squares (not pictured).

Cross Stitch:
I did some more stitching on Mask of Colors 1, a Colray Crafts chart by Michele Sayetta of Heaven and Earth Designs based on artwork by Linda Ravenscroft.
Quilting:
It doesn't look like I'm going to finish Part 2 of Tucker, a Pocket Patchwork Sew-Along by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts, before Friday. There's just too much sewing for a hand-piecer like me to get done in such a short amount of time. Here's what I've got done so far:

Mask of Colors 1, Tucker, Step Afghan
Cross Stitch:
I did some more stitching on Mask of Colors 1, a Colray Crafts chart by Michele Sayetta of Heaven and Earth Designs based on artwork by Linda Ravenscroft.
Quilting:
Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts has started another one of her Pocket Patchwork Sew-Alongs. She's calling this one Tucker. Part 1 consists of cutting out a ton of pieces and making 8 half-square triangles (HSTs). I've chosen my fabrics, washed any that needed it, and made the HSTs. I opted to cut out the rest of the pieces as I go, which I'm regretting a bit because this week we get to piece about half of them together! Oh well, it'll keep me out of mischief this weekend. :)

Garage Dragon
In Carl Sagan's book The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, he tells a story about a dragon that lives in his garage. When a visitor says that he can't see the dragon, Sagan explains that the dragon is invisible. When the visitor suggests sprinkling flour on the floor to make the dragon's footprints visible, Sagan says that the dragon floats. When the visitor wants to use an infra-red camera to take a picture of the dragon's fire, Sagan counters that the fire is heatless, and so on and so forth. Sagan uses this analogy to demonstrate the manner in which many believers in paranormal phenomena attempt to explain away any lack of proof for their theories.
However, I'm here to tell you that this story is just an elaborate cover-up. Garage dragons do exist, and I've discovered one in my garage. I've taken a picture of him, and converted the image to cross stitch. As the discoverer of this new species, I've elected to name it after Sagan. I think I'll call my specimen Carl. As always, you can click the image to embiggen.

Well, what did you expect an invisible dragon to look like? ;P
The fonts I've used are from Leisure Arts' A Big Collection of Alphabets, albeit modified slightly. The border is from Celtic Cross Stitch by Gail Lawther, also slightly modified. The overall design is mine.
