In Carl Sagan's book The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, he tells a story about a dragon that lives in his garage. When a visitor says that he can't see the dragon, Sagan explains that the dragon is invisible. When the visitor suggests sprinkling flour on the floor to make the dragon's footprints visible, Sagan says that the dragon floats. When the visitor wants to use an infra-red camera to take a picture of the dragon's fire, Sagan counters that the fire is heatless, and so on and so forth. Sagan uses this analogy to demonstrate the manner in which many believers in paranormal phenomena attempt to explain away any lack of proof for their theories.
However, I'm here to tell you that this story is just an elaborate cover-up. Garage dragons do exist, and I've discovered one in my garage. I've taken a picture of him, and converted the image to cross stitch. As the discoverer of this new species, I've elected to name it after Sagan. I think I'll call my specimen Carl.
