Weekly Update - Barefoot Summer Days & Brilliant Butterfly Celebration

I'm over halfway done with Barefoot Summer Days, a scrap afghan designed by Kathy Wesley. I'm anxious to get this one finished since some yarn for another project was delivered day before yesterday.

I got very little done on Brilliant Butterfly Celebration from The Gold Collection by Dimensions, but that's okay since I only pulled it out to have something to work on when my hands got tired from crocheting.

Weekly Update - Bright Feathers & Barefoot Summer Days, UFO - Brilliant Butterfly Celebration

I finally decided I'd had enough of Bright Feathers, so I've relegated it to the UFO pile. Here's what I had done before I put it away.

I got 2 strips done and joined together on Barefoot Summer Days, a scrap afghan designed by Kathy Wesley, and nearly finished another strip.

The strips are crocheted together rather than sewn.

I also picked up another cross stitch UFO. It's Brilliant Butterfly Celebration from The Gold Collection by Dimensions. I couldn't find out who designed it, so if anyone happens to know please tell me.

Here's what I'd already had done on it when I took it out yesterday.

Unfortunately, I discovered that I had missed one column of stitches in the first metallic section, so I had to frog everything to the right of that.

Here's what I got done yesterday.

New Designs - Storm At Sea & Tempest

I did these back in April. I don't know why it's taken me so long to post them.

First, I did a cross stitch interpretation of the traditional Storm At Sea quilt pattern with the usual stormy blues and greys.

Then I started playing with the colors.

Weekly Update - Bright Feathers & Barefoot Summer Days

Late again, but here's what I had done on Wednesday.

Bright Feathers:

I finished the first strip of Barefoot Summer Days, a scrap afghan designed by Kathy Wesley, and started the second one.

Monk's cloth

As I mentioned in my last post, I finally got the monk's cloth washed. I washed it in cold water in a nylon mesh bag to keep it from being ripped to shreds by the agitator, then took it out of the bag and threw it in the dryer with the towels.

It really shrank. I didn't think to measure it before I washed it, but whereas before I couldn't get the entire piece of fabric in a picture, now I can.

It looks and feels like an entirely different type of fabric, and it doesn't feel nearly as soft as it did before washing it.

I've measured the width and estimated how much yarn I'll need to stitch my chosen design, and I've ordered some cotton yarn. I still need to remove the basting from the long edges and hem them properly before I finally get to stitch. Not sure when I'll get to that as I'm in the middle of both an afghan and a cross stitch project at present.

Weekly Update - Bright Feathers & Barefoot Summer Days

I've been too busy to write a post the last couple of days, but here's what I had done on Wednesday.

I made a little progress on Bright Feathers.

I got quite a bit done on the first strip of Barefoot Summer Days, a scrap afghan designed by Kathy Wesley.

Also, I finally got around to washing the monk's cloth today, and it's in the dryer as I'm typing this. They weren't kidding when they said it would shrink: the weave's already a lot tighter after just having been washed in cold water.
